Keanu Reeves says 'Matrix 4' is a 'love story' and 'a call to wake up'

Keanu Reeves has revealed that The Matrix 4 is “a love story” from returning director Lana Wachowski, which will prove to be “inspiring” for audiences.

The film is currently shooting in Berlin, having resumed after a coronavirus-induced delay, and Reeves appeared on The One Show via video call to discuss the upcoming sci-fi sequel.

He admitted that things “looked a little dire for Neo” at the end of 2003’s The Matrix Revolutions and dismissed the notion the movie will be a prequel, but said “all will be revealed” in the new film.

Reeves added: “We have a wonderful director, Lana Wachowski, and she has written a beautiful script that is a love story. It’s inspiring.

“It’s another version, a call to wake up and it has some great action.”

Reeves’s co-star Neil Patrick Harris has also been chatting about The Matrix 4, praising Wachowski in an interview with SiriusXM.

He said: "I think she has a great inclusive energy and her style has shifted visually from what she had done to what she is currently doing."
